Turpan is known as one of the richest open-air archaeological museums in the world. The museum has a very rich collection, second only to the autonomous region museum. It has more than 6,000 cultural relics, including nearly 100 first-class cultural relics. More than 80% of the cultural relics in the past 1,000 years, that is, the prosperity of the Silk Road, came from Turpan.
The Turpan Museum was founded in 1956. With the development of the museum industry in my country, the site of the Three Changes has become the current scale, and it has become a national second-class museum that collects, displays, collects and researches human cultural heritage objects.
The current site of the Turpan Museum is located at the junction of Munaar Road and Shahezi Road in Turpan City. It officially broke ground on 12, 2006. It covers an area of 13,291.3 square meters, with an exhibition area of 4,126 square meters. There are a total of 10 exhibition halls, and 4 exhibition halls are currently open for general history, paleontology, documents, mummies. The new building opened to the public in the second half of 2009.
The current site of the Turpan Museum is located at No. 1268, Munnar Road, Turpan City. The new Turpan Museum is a key project in the Turpan area in 2006. After three years of active preparations, the site selection, overall design, fund raising, and bidding for construction units were completed. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 8 of that year, and on the 12th. Officially broke ground. The Turpan Museum and Training Center project is planned to cover an area of 30 mu. The total project area is 17,570.01 square meters, the museum project construction area is 13,291.3 square meters, and the exhibition area is 4,126 square meters. It has three floors, a partial basement, and a frame structure. In the northeast corner of the museum, there is a sightseeing tower with a height of 56m. The training center has a construction area of 4278.71 square meters, four floors, a partial basement, and a frame structure.
