“丝绸之路”是指中国古代不同历史时期与欧、亚、非的交通、贸易之路，其中又可分为陆上丝绸之路、海上丝绸之路、草原丝绸之路和茶马古道等。它们不仅是古代世界历史上著名的通商之路，更是东西方文明的交流与碰撞之路。而“草原丝绸之路”又是其中时代最早、极为重要的组成部分。它见证了欧亚大陆各个历史阶段在诸方面的交流与融合，尤以游牧文明与农耕文明间的交流为重。

    中国北方草原，由于其地处欧亚大陆草原的东南边沿，临近东方发达的农业文明区域，所以，这里不仅是游牧文化与中原农耕文化交汇的核心地区，也是草原丝绸之路的重要节点。古往今来，活跃在“草原丝绸之路”上的历代北方游牧民族，因其独特的生产生活方式，使之在与中原及西方世界诸民族的交流与交往中，客观上扮演了东西方文明交流与交往的先行者和传递者的角色，为草原丝绸之路的肇始、发展、繁荣及延续作出了重要贡献。

    宁波是东方“海上丝绸之路”的著名始发港。宁波博物馆引进内蒙古博物院“草原丝路——内蒙古出土文物精华展”，旨在让观众于东海之滨也能领略到遥远北方草原丝绸之路璀璨的文明与历史，见证中华民族古老文明的多元一体与辉煌成就，让古老的草原丝绸之路与海上丝绸之路相映生辉。

    "Silk Road" refers to the ancient trade route from China to Europe, Asia and Africa in different time period in Chinese history. Silk Road can be further divided into the “Land-based Silk Road”, “Maritime Silk Road”, “Grassland Silk Road”, “Tea Horse Road”, etc. They are not only famous trade routes in world history, but also the routes for the communication between oriental and occidental civilizations. Among them the “Grassland Silk road" is the earliest and one of the most important components.  It witnessed the Eurasia communication in various historical stages and aspects, especially in the communication between nomadic civilization and agricultural civilization.

    Because of its location in the southeast edge of Eurasia steppe, adjacent to the developed area of agricultural civilization in the east , grassland in northern China, is not only a core junction of the nomadic culture and farming culture of  central plains, but also the important node of the grassland silk road. With their unique way of living and production, northern nomadic people, acted as pioneers and deliverers in the communication of exchange between eastern and western civilization through the ages. They made outstanding contributions to the rise, development, prosperity, and continuity of Grassland Silk Road

    Ningbo is the starting port of “Maritime Silk Road”. Today, we present “Grassland Silk Road – Exhibition of Historical Relics Unearthed in Inner Mongolia” from Inner Mongolia Museum, in wish of showing our audience the splendor of Grassland Silk Road from the remote northland, allowing us to witness the massive achievements of “Unity in Diversity” in Chinese civilization.
