Dr. ZHANG Baichun is the director of Institute for History of Natural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Science. His research interests include history of technology, mechanics and machines. He is the author and co-author of over 10 books including The Europeanization of Astronomical Instruments during the Ming and Qing China (2000, in Chinese), Technology Transfer from the Soviet Union to the P. R. China: 1949-1966 (2004, in Chinese and 2010, in Russian) and Transmission and Integration -QiqiTushuo (2008, in Chinese).
