The China National Silk Museum (NSM) has proposed the “Silk Road Week” (SRW) to take place in Hangzhou, China from 19 - 25 June, 2020. Earlier this month, the plan was released in public on several occasions, such as the Second Executive Council Meeting of the International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road on December 4, the International Silk Union Members Assembly on December 5 and the Annual Meeting of the Chinese Museums Association’s Committee of Museums along the Silk Road on December 6, and very enthusiastic responses were received.

More than 40 experts from world famous museums and 50 directors or delegates from Chinese museums atteneded the forum.

From 22 September to 30 September 2019, the 4th IASSRT (International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles) symposium as well as the 5th IASSRT board meeting“Textiles as a historical source” was successfully held in Russia, while mainly in Kislovodsk.

4th Symposium International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT), Sep. 21 – Oct. 1, 2019, Kislovodsk, Russia. “Textiles as A Historical Source”

The 4th Symposium of IASSRT will take place from 21st September to 1st October 2019 in Russia, while mainly in Kislovodsk. The theme of the symposium will be "Textiles as a historical source". The chief focus of the discussion will be the consilience in approach to understanding textiles in the historical context covering topics such as economic and technological development, trade links, diplomatic and political relations, social structure, textiles production and manufacturing, mythology, cosmology and decorative arts, etc. on the territories of the Silk Road (including Oasis and Desert Silk

The symposium was hosted by IASSRT, organized by Korea National University of Cultural Heritage, China National Silk Museum (CNSM), and supported by the Korean National Intangible Heritage Center (KNIHC), National Museum of Korea (NMK), and Kyung-woon Museum.

“Silk Road Textiles: Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage” Symposium and 3rd IASSRT meeting will be held from Nov. 5 to Nov. 9, 2018 in Buyeo, the Republic of Korea. The symposium will make in-depth discussion on the important tangible and intangible textile heritages, which have been culturally transmitted along the Silk Road. Heritage such as Korean and Asian textile traditions, textiles on the Eastern Silk Road, textiles on the Steppe Silk Road, textiles along the Maritime Silk Road, Eastern textiles in European collection, and new researches on the Silk Road textiles shall be addresse

The Grant aims to provide financial assistance for specially invited keynote representatives, retired or independent, young scholars and students to participate in 3rd IASSRT Symposium “Silk Road Textiles: Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage” to be held from Nov.5 to Nov.10, 2018 in Buyeo, Republic of Korea. Successful applicants have to attend the technical sessions of the symposium and in person to receive the fund which will be distributed on the first day of the symposium.

This "A World of Looms: Weaving Technology and Textile Arts in China and Beyond" Exhibition is the largest loom exhibition ever held by the China National Silk Museum in conjunction with loom experts and professional organizations worldwide.

By presenting traditional Korean costumes, fabrics and the weaving and dyeing techniques used in the costume making process, the exhibition "Traditional Korean Costumes and Textiles" aims at enhancing the Chinese audience's understanding of Korean traditional costume culture and offering an opportunity for exchanges between China and Korea in the fields of inheritance, restoration and flexible application of this intangible cultural heritage.

This exhibition introduces the history of sericulture and presents silk weaving techniques in Korea and China and subsequent culture derived from silk weaving in an all-inclusive fashion.

“Dialogue with Silk between Europe and Asia: History, Technology and Art” Symposium and 2nd IASSRT meeting will be held from Nov. 29th to Dec. 3rd, 2017 in Lyon, France. The symposium will make in-depth discussion on the important silk traditions of Europe, Asia and other area, the functions, technologies and artistic features of their silk products, and the important role silk has played in promoting the cultural dialogue on the Silk Road.

The 2nd IASSRT Symposium “Dialogue with Silk between Europe and Asia: History, Technology and Art”held successfully from November 29 to December 4, 2017. More than 40 scholars and organization representatives from 12 countries attended the symposium.

At the evening of 22 September 2016, the first annual meeting of International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT) is held at Xinyou Archives, China National Silk Museum.During the meeting, several issues are undertaken.
