The interactive map of world culture is based on the map of world loom developed during the exhibition " A World of Looms: Weaving Technology and Textile Arts in China and Beyond" hosted by the China National Silk Museum. The template of academic map of traditional loom is established by applying "Internet +" technology. Subsequently, silk and tea sections were added, and researchers and enthusiasts from all over the world were invited to participate in the uploading of video materials on weaving machines, silk and tea. Thus, a set of open and shared academic map of traditional culture was presented through the web background with combining computer technology and manual review mechanism.
It is based on the GIS geographic information, marked by researchers, teachers and science workers, cultural enthusiasts, cultural travelers to provide relevant information from all over the world. We could learn more about loom, silk, tea and related culture, especially understanding how great contribution human beings on the Silk Road. Experts could find new clues here, students could learn new knowledge here, teachers can explain cultures around the world in this way, designers could find new inspiration here, and tourists could find new scenic spots here.
As for its operation process, through computer or mobile phone, you could search information for loom, silk and tea. If you have new findings, you could take photos, video and then immediately upload them. After the checking of administration, new information will be released on the interactive map.

Please notice the following attentions when you upload information to the website:
1) Fill in:
the name and location of the loom you upload; (You may use the location as a prefix of the loom if you don't know its official name. For example: Khotan Loom.)
the longitude and latitude of the loom, or find the location on the map;
your name and e-mail address, and choose whether you want to disclose the information.
2) Options:
Fill in your contact telephone or mobile-phone number;
Upload the text description of the loom, including its size, structure, types and artistic of textiles which it can produce, and the size is basically measured from the outermost sides.
Fill in the date of upload. if it is left blank, the date is regarded as the same day as upload.
Fill in the type and age of the loom. Types include simple looms, treadle looms, pattern looms and others. If you choose "others", you may describe it by yourself. If the image of the loom is obtained from historical documents and other cultural relics, please choose its corresponding era.
3) Images and videos of looms:
Upload no more than 10 pictures of the front view, detail view and the textile, and make related text descriptions. (As the bandwidth of the network is limited, it is recommended that picture file size be less than 1GB.) Mark the copyright of the photos or descriptions if there is any.
Upload no more than 5 video clips of the loom you upload and make a related text description. (As the bandwidth of the network is limited, it is recommended that the video file size be less than 10GB.) Mark the copyright of the photos or descriptions if there is any.
